There are places which attract travellers for its history, for its nature or maybe for its people or even for the food. If we are completely honest, Burano Island charmed us with its colors.
Our perfect one day in Burano
We wanted to visit Burano Island (known for laces and colours) for years, but never got the right opportunity, the right reason and the right time. Luckily, my pregnancy picks destinations instead of us lately. Being 34th weeks pregnant and having pretty bad back pains, we cannot travel too far anymore. In fact, we are adjusting our explorations to my mood.
Living in Slovenia is great for many reasons and one of them is also its central European location. We needed only 3 hours’ drive by car to reach Treporti, from where we boarded on the vaporetto. It took us 16 minutes to Burano Island. You can also reach Burano Island from the Murano Island or Venice by vaporetto.
We already knew, we will fall for Burano Island, already from the vaporetto ride. Seeing the colorful buildings from afar gave us big hopes and expectations.
As soon as we made our first few steps around Burano Island, we started with photographing, meaning we were impressed indeed. In fact, Burano Island is a true paradise for everyone looking into great motives.
And that is exactly why words sometimes are not needed, as all the photos taken at Burano Island surely speak for themselves.
So, if you are visiting Venice, make sure to do the vaporetto day trip to Burano Island as well. You will love it for sure.
How to reach Burano Island from Venice?
The cheapest option is boarding on vaporetto line nr. 12 near San Marco square. The ride will take you around 45 minutes and the return ticket will costs you 15 EUR/pp. This ticket is only good for visiting one island. If you want to stop at Murano Island as well (known for its glass), you will need to buy 24 hours ticket, which includes more rides and costs 20 EUR/pp. You can travel to Burano Island by boat taxi, but be prepared to pay much more.
