Simon and I always like to do a trip to the coast and we often end up in the NW Istria in Croatia. During the years we have been visiting this destination, it can clearly be seen that NW Istria is developing into the culinary destination.
During off-season NW Istria organizes four different gourmet festivals to attract visitors all-year round.
We visited the Days of seashells for the first time this year and tried the menus out at the Villa Vilola restaurant. We got served with marinated mussels in citrus sauce with sea pâté, mixed shellfish in white wine sauce with pea, Istrian krafi ricotta ravioli in Buzara with shellfish, cherry tomatoes, olives and capers and at the end followed the surprise dessert, similar to the apple pie.
This year nine restaurants joined the Days of seashells and each has its own menu with dishes including seashells. You can check the list of restaurants, their menus with prices here.
