I cannot believe 2019 year is over and the new one is already here. It is about time to review our travels and all the experiences we managed to do.

Our travel year 2019 was extremely busy, with lots of travels, unforgettable experiences and lessons, which made our life richer in so many ways.

Travel year in review

January

Ever since we have started blogging more professionally, Januaries are always a bit slow. So instead of traveling we normally spend our day’s home, making new plans. We only did a short one-day trip around Slovenia, to a bit less known part of Vipava valley.

February

If you read our blog regular, you know we are always very excited, when we can run away from winter. Due to a collaboration with Air France we found ourselves in Caribbean for the very first time. The French island Guadeloupe was amazing and we loved it there so much, we cannot wait to be back in Caribbean again. Check out the best things to do in Guadeloupe or if you are traveling there with kids, Guadeloupe is perfect family destination and you can read why here.

March

We launched a new campaign with Megabon in March, introducing their packages, including activities and experiences on the destination. We visited a small Slovenian village Begunje na Gorenjskem. Later that month we made a family trip to Maribor, which is a good family destination too.

April

Do you like chocolate? Well, maybe it is finally time to visit Slovenia and enjoy the annual chocolate festival in Radovljica.

We also did a short three day road trip to Crikvenica in Croatia, which is mostly known for the summer holidays, but visiting it off-season, it offers many things to do, without the crowds.

May

We normally do a road trip with our Toyota Land Cruiser, but instead of that, we went on a city break in Naples with my sister and her family. Naples might not sounds like the perfect family destination, but we still had lots of fun. Check out our Naples travel itinerary to really experience most amazing tourist attractions in Naples.

June

June was another month, perfect to enjoy some sunshine on Croatian coast. This time we did a road trip to Vodice – a popular summer destination for many Europeans. Vodice have great location for everyone interesting in more than just getting a suntan. Check out best things to do in Vodice, including daytrips from the town.

July

When everyone else is on summer holidays, we roll up our sleeves and go to work. July was extremely busy for us. First we visited Terme Tuhelj in Croatia and did a review of their entire service – from pools, waterpark, massages, food, kid’s animation. Terme Tuhelj was such a great spent family time for summer fun, especially if you have kids, enjoying water slides.

We were also hosting a Serbian blogger in Slovenia for a day due to a Mastercard campaign. Even though Slovenia is such a small country, we wanted to show him how diverse the country is and decided to show him a small part of the NE Slovenia. We took him to the mine coal Velenje, wine tasting at the Zlati Grič vinery, a quick and traditional lunch (stew) in Slovenian oldest restaurant at the foot of the Žice Carterhouse and ended a day at Golte – popular mountains for skiing in winter and hiking during the summer. You can get more information about this one day trip from Ljubljana here.

Serbian blogger came to Slovenia for the Mastercard campaign and we travelled to Prague later this month. We have explored some of the best tourist attractions in Prague. Prague is not the cheapest capital, but we wrote all kind of travel tips on how to do Prague on a budget.

August

August was a mixture of work and our own holidays. Well, because travel blogging is not just our job, but we really enjoy in traveling, we of course spend our summer break traveling. As we really enjoy overland and adventurous travels, we headed to Romanian Carpathians. We have already been to Romania few years back and liked the country a lot, but just now, we were able to see it in all its glory.

The other half of the month we spent on the road trip around Germany. We visit Germany each year and every time we are there, we keep getting surprised. Germany is a really good road trip destination for the whole family. With its numerous theme parks and charming cities like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Gelnhausen or beautiful nature found in Berchtesgaden, you will not be disappointed if visiting.

September

Even though we really enjoy foreign countries, we always like to get lost in Slovenia too. We stopped at Podčetrtek where we joined Termalia spa center and its new Family Fun part, made especially for families and kids, no matter the age – even babies will find their paradise in its poll with sand. But Podčetrtek is so much more than just spending time indoors and spa – there are many things to do in Podčetrtek.

October

It was time again to forget about official work and do another overland and adventurous travel for our soul. After returning from Romania, we bought a new Toyota Land Crusier and October was the time to test it out. It was time for Tunisia in Africa. Tunisia and its Sahara desert showed us how humble and respectful we should be for the Mother Nature. But luckily everything ended up good and we managed to get back home safe and sound. Even though our main goal was crossing part of Sahara desert, we still managed to find amazing places and some of the best tourist attractions in Tunisia. For everyone who would like to experience the authentic Tunisia, check out more information in our Tunisia travel guide.

October was also the month of the new season, when I am a regular monthly guest on our national TV’s Good Morning show, where I talk about different trip ideas.

November

Cold days kicked in and one of the best things about them is the Christmas season. I love lights and Christmas markets, so we did not wait long and visited one of the very first ones – Christmas market at the Munich Airport, which is a great place to visit if you found yourself at the Munich airport during it.

December

Last year we found ourselves skiing in Zillertal, Austria after more than a decade, but this year we spend the first part of December for visiting another Christmas market. Graz Christmas market is one of the most popular Christmas markets in Austria and we enjoyed it a lot too. The decision to stay there 2 days, was perfect, as we could join the Graz Christmas market with several other things to do too – especially the Frida and Fred Museum and the Krampusfest.

December was also time just for Simon and I – we travelled to Shanghai in China without our son. As much as we missed him, it was such a great week, exploring Shanghai, Suzhou and Zouzhang with our own tempo. We really enjoyed China and because of its bullet trains, even further destinations are easily accessible. We will definitely be back to China with Ren too. We have not write anything about China yet, so stay tuned for more. But in the meantime, check out our Instagram for some photos.

We are extremely grateful to be able to have such an amazing travel year. At first it did not seemed anything special, but looking back on it, I just hope that the new year will be close to this one too.
