We have been on the road for 15 days and we would be lying to claim, it is easy. There were days, when we were asking ourselves if this overland travel was even a good idea. It might be easier to choose a closer destination.
The biggest problem we were dealing with was catching the right rhythm. Ren was very cooperative and he stick to the rhythm from home. We knew when it was time to sleep and eat, but sometimes it was just impossible to find a good place to stop, when he had his hours.
We were all a bit stressed, but I think we got it now. I know, we would be better off if serving Ren already prepared baby food, but we just had to “complicate” things a little bit more and decided we will be cooking him his own lunches every day and so far we have been doing that exactly.
Well, I still have to admit, that there are days, when nothing goes as we want and those days are still exhausting. Nevertheless we try to be happy and full of energy for Ren. We knew that overland travel with a baby will not be easy, but it does get pretty hard sometimes. And nope, these are not holidays.
We are reaching Tbilisi today, the capital of Georgia. We are staying there for three nights (in a Guest House Georgian House) and we are all extremely happy because of this. Not only to rest from all the drive, but mostly because of the shower. We were without a shower for days and standing under a warm running water is pure luxury. Washing our hair and putting on some fresh clothes… oh my… I am so excited!
Even though Simon and I were asking ourselves if the decision for this overland travel was the right one, we are definitely not sorry we are here and doing it. There are still days, we are tired, but the best things and memories never come easily.
