We always like to take part in fun and a little bit more adrenalin oriented experiences. Due to the lack of our annual leave from work, we are now forced to explore weekend destinations, which we can do from our home country Slovenia. Luckily Slovenia has great location and we can travel by car to different European countries in few hours only.
One of the best weekend destinations (apart from Slovenia) is also Austria and its region Carinthia. Carinthia is great year-round destination and that is why we are there often. We were not traveling to Carinthia alone this time – we were with our niece and nephew. Our niece had her birthday and we decided we will rather take her to a trip than buying her a present, which will be easily forgotten.
Our first destination was the Monkey Hill near Villach, where more than 150 macaque monkeys live. But it did not end there – we prepared another surprise for her. She likes adrenalin a lot and we have decided to take her to the Alpine tobogganing in Turracher Höhe.
Turracher Höhe is known as a skiing destination in winter, but it is also visited in the summer due to lots of beautiful hiking trails. Apart from skiing and hiking, the place also has a fun year-round tobogganing track.
The tobogganing track starts at 2000 meters above sea level, which you can reach by foot or by a Panoramabahn cable car.
The tobogganing track is 1600 meters long and is extremely diverse, including jumps, waves and spirals.
You will surely have a blast here, no matter what your age is. In sunshine or snow, Nocky Flitzer tobogganing will be a fun and adrenalin filled ride, you will not forget easily. The only thing we regret is we only went down the slide once.
