Our roadtrip around Germany, Belgium and Holland was done without big planning. In fact, we made a rough plan only one evening before our departure. We did not study any books, guides nor blogs. Believe it or not, but we focused only on photos found on the internet and Instagram. If we were impressed, we put the destination on the list.

For our Belgium exploration we knew we will stop in Brussels, but there was another town, which charmed us completely – Bruge. The published photos were amazing and we knew, we have to see it by ourselves as well. We decided to spend one complete day in Bruge, so we also booked a hotel on booking a day before our arrival.

If the photos convinced us for visiting Bruge, everything looked even more beautiful and attractive in person. We might not had the best weather, but that did not stop us from liking the place a lot.

We could focus on numerous sights, museums, historical buildings or took a boat ride around the canals, but all we wanted to do is enjoying getting lost among narrow streets and feel the vibes. It was a great day indeed.

  • Exploring: The best way to explore Bruge is by foot. If you’ll be visiting Belgium by a car, you can park at the parking lot at the Central train station – 3,50€/24 hours. (Parking coordinates: 51.11.46.3 / 3.13.16.0). You will need 5-10 minutes by foot from parking to the old town of Bruge.

We were looking on our budget, so we decided for a cheaper option and spent a night in Ibis Hotel Budget Brugge Centrum Station. The hotel has great location, nice rooms and if you are traveling by car, cheap parking – 3,50€/24 hours. We would definitely recommend you this hotel when in Bruge.
