We sometimes feel so blessed to live in Slovenia. This tiny and little known European country really has everything we could wish for. Slovenia is a great destination for all the active travelers, fond of nature and outdoor sports.
You can reach Belopeska Lakes / Fusine Lakes by car, on foot or by bike – it is entirely up to you. But to be honest, the best possible way to visit the lakes is by bike, as the cycling path is set up in a beautiful countryside, surrounded by Alpine mountains.
The cycling path is made on a formal railroad, which continues to Italy (further 174 km) or even to Austria (further 90-120 km). So if you think cycling to Belopeska Lakes / Fusine Lakes is just not enough, you can easily make the trip a bit longer. A nice stretch is also to Treviso town in Italy.
Even if you’re not in the best cycling shape, we have good news. The Belopeska Lakes / Fusine Lakes are actually very close to Kranjska Gora. As soon as you cross over the Slovenian/Italian border, there are only few more kilometers (app. 4 km) to overcome. The last kilometer is a little steep, but believe us, it is well worth the effort. On the other hand, you can also walk up, if you see the road comes a bit to steep for you.
There are two lakes at Belopeska Lakes / Fusine Lakes and it is hard to say which one is more beautiful, as both surely will take your breath away. The landscape there is just amazing – green water, lush forest and high Alpine mountains are the perfect scenery for hot summer days. It is so easy to relax here and forget about everyday problems. A breath of fresh air and you feel like new.
We are grateful to have these beautiful Belopeska Lakes / Fusine Lakes so close to us, as we can visit them over and over. No matter how many places in the world we visit, we are always happy to return here and we are sure you would be too.
